Five years in prison for Windsor robbers

LINDEN – Thulani Mbata (28) and Steven Bosaya (45) were found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Two people were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment each at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court recently for a crime they committed in Windsor East last year.

Linden Police Station’s Captain Alex Vermaak said that Thulani Mbata (28) and Steven Bosaya (45) were found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The crime took place in March last year when officers were patrolling the Windsor East area. The officers were identifying abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the area and once they arrived at such a building, they were approached by a member of the community.

Vermaak said, “He told the officers that he was robbed and the police started investigating and searching for the suspects.

“While searching, the victim identified the suspects who had also caught the officers’ eyes. When officers approached, they fled the scene. The officers gave chase and two suspects were apprehended. The suspects were found hiding in the notorious Courtyard building.”

Vermaak wished to congratulate all police members involved in the arrest and conviction of the two individuals on behalf of the station.
