JOBURG – Exciting and lighthearted films for young and old.

We have some action-packed movies lined up and something lighthearted for the younger ones in cinemas from 15 November:

• Set against the backdrop of 1950s New York, Motherless Brooklyn follows Lionel Essrog, a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome, as he ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna. The drama sees Edward Norton scour Brooklyn and Harlem’s jazz clubs and slums where he soon uncovers a web of secrets while going against thugs, corruption and New York’s most dangerous man.

• With the rise of technology and social media it was only a matter of time before we saw an app for something rather odd. In Countdown, the new app trend going around predicts your death date. After a nurse downloads it, to her surprise she only has three days left to live. With a race against time and other dark forces in her way she must desperately find a way to save her own life before time runs out. • An animation treat for the whole family. Manou, the Swift’s world is turned upside down in Manou the Swift when he comes to the realisation that he is not a seagull like the rest of his feathery family. As the young swift learns to fly, he takes us on a journey of courage and self-discovery when he finally meets birds of his own species and finds out who he really is. When both seagulls and swifts face a dangerous threat, Manou becomes the hero of the day. An absolute tear-jerker, Kate Winslet, William Dafoe, and Josh Keaton lend their vocal talents to this movie directed by Christian Haas.

• Set in the 1980s in Tokyo Japan Earthquake Bird is the story of a mysterious expat, Lucy Fly. After meeting a local photographer in the city who only goes by the name of Teji, Lucy funds herself in a love triangle involving her friend Lily Bridges. After some betrayal and lies, Lily goes missing leaving Lucy in the middle of a murder scene as the main suspect.
