Born for the screen, born to perform

From imitations to the real thing, Mulisa Mudau always knew she was made for greatness.

An actress and a glamorous presenter, Mulisaā€™s talent is unmatched. The charismatic beauty said she always knew what she was destined to do. ā€œGrowing up, I watched a lot of TV and I was fond of imitating TV presenters, so I kind of knew from a young age that this is what I want to do.ā€

Born and bred in the small town of Sasolburg in the Free State, she relocated to Limpopo for her tertiary studies where she obtained a BA in Library and Information Sciences at the University of Limpopo and is now a Randburg resident. A presenter on the popular magazine show, Real Goboza (RGB), Mulisa landed another huge role in May this year.

Joining the cast of popular Tshivenda TV programme Muvhango, she described it as a dream come true. She plays the role of a waitress but far from that in real life. ā€œI started off in the industry as a radio presenter on Energy FM, then moved to TV presenting on RGB and now Iā€™m an actress on Muvhango.ā€ Placing her focus strictly on these she has plans of bettering her craft and skills.

ā€œIā€™ve been attending a few courses and training in order to polish my skills, that way I can stay on top of my game.ā€ She mentioned that itā€™s not as easy as it looks with a lot of work that goes into her craft. ā€œYes, the glitz and glam is there but the real job is doing a lot of research, keeping yourself updated with whatā€™s happening in and around the world, keeping up with the A-listers, trends, fashion, music.ā€

An avid spa-goer, Mulisa said, ā€œIā€™m addicted to the spa! I love doing my nails and getting full body massages but sometimes I hit the club with my girls or spend time with my family.ā€ An avid reader too, her latest read is one by Richard Carlson, Donā€™t sweat the small stuff and itā€™s all small stuff. Having lost her mom as a teen, her strength and determination made its way through.

ā€œI was raised by my late mother, who passed on when I was 15 and my brother was 11 at the time. Although our time with her was short lived, she gave us the best childhood any kid could ask for!ā€ As a young girl from the township who believed in herself and her dreams, she hopes to inspire many other girls and boys that they can do it too.
