Two suspected robbers arrested

HONEYDEW – Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said that investigators are trying to link the suspects to other crimes that have recently occurred in the area.

The Honeydew police are praising the efforts of their officers after the arrest of two suspects who may have links to a spree of housebreakings and robberies in the Cosmo City area.

In the late evening of 12 September, officers were patrolling around the area when they spotted a white Volkswagen Polo that they had been on the lookout for.

When they stopped and searched the vehicle, they discovered tools commonly used in housebreakings.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said investigators were trying to link the suspects to other crimes that have recently occurred in the area.

He said, “We have had a small spike in house robberies in that area, but as was seen in this year’s crime statistics, house robberies and break-ins were quite sporadic across our entire policing area.

“We always treat it as though the crime rate is high so that we can always be on our toes. It is not always one group of suspects in particular, there are many that operate in different areas. So we have a tough job arresting those that focus on the townships and those that focus on the suburbs.”

In a similar success last week, the Honeydew police arrested three suspects for murder, business robbery and possession of housebreaking implements in Cosmo City Ext 6.
