Ackermans helps Thandanani

ZANDSPRUIT – Ackermans staff enjoyed spending a day with the children of the Thandanani House of Refuge.

Representatives of Ackermans enjoyed spending a day with the children of the Thandanani House of Refuge and provided a donation of clothing and curtains for their home on 8 August.

The Thandanani House of Refuge is a children’s home that gives much-needed love and care to 23 orphans and neglected children from the Zandspruit area.

All children admitted to the home have been processed through the children’s court and are placed in schools in the nearby area.

Thandanani social worker Zandile Nompula said, “I think it’s great that a big company like Ackermans doesn’t forget to support their customers and their community.”

Ackermans divisional sales manager Takalani Palmer said, “Our ububele project is something that we do every year where we give back to our local community in the form of charity. We have loyal customers that support us each year, so this is our way to say thank you to them and show that we truly care.

“We do this project each year across the country and this year we chose Thandanani for our area. We identify their needs and give them a wish list of everything that they need. We then take a look at the wish list and see what we can do to bring value to their lives.”

Palmer added that she enjoyed being there on the day to let the children see that it is not only those at Thandanani that care about them.

“Today, we donated some charity stock including clothing, shoes and new curtains for the home and children,” said Palmer.

Nompula added, “We always need all the help and support that we can get. We have to support these children in their schooling and the day to day living expenses and costs of running our facility, so we always welcome donations from the community.”
