Police get fit in Cosmo
COSMO CITY – The event dubbed Mass Police Aerobics saw numerous officers getting up bright and early to get their bodies moving.
More than 300 police officers from across the Gauteng policing district gathered at Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre to have some fun keeping fit with aerobics on 30 July.
The event dubbed Mass Police Aerobics saw numerous officers getting up bright and early to get their bodies moving to the sounds of fast-paced electronic dance music.
Honeydew Police Station’s Sergeant Chris Molapo helped to organise the event and said, “The aerobics morning is to help our members create a healthy body and healthy mind. We were tasked by our provincial commander to spearhead the aerobics initiative, and we were so happy to see over 300 officers taking part. The main purpose of this is to allow police members, while on duty, to exercise and get fitter to fight crime and relieve their stress.
“It is a great initiative to help with social cohesion. Initiatives like this help us to meet other officers from all over, and can even help us in our investigations when talking socially.”
He thanked various nutritional suppliers who supplied food and water for the event.
“We would also like to thank the City and Ward 100 councillor Mapula Mosito for allowing us to use the Cosmo Multipurpose Centre, as well as Brigadier Z. Freddie who administers all sports activities for the police in our province, and our own station commander Brigadier Anesh Maharaj to allow us to organise the venue within his area.”
Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan added that he hoped this initiative continued on a monthly basis with each district hosting a similar activity.
