Learners, parents and guests have a blast at Mr and Ms Rand Park

RANDPARK RIDGE – Learners given a year to celebrate and embrace their new titles.

With the boys suited up in their very best and the girls looking like the queens they are, Rand Park High School hosted their 2019 edition of Mr and Ms Rand Park.

After an evening of the school showcasing their talent, beauty and brains Rick Weimar and Bella Meiring were named winners. This year’s theme focused on the 80s, 90s and Noughties (2000’s) and participants were required to dress up as an iconic pop or rock star of their choice to fit the theme and to mimic their icon on-stage.

The annual event is run by the school’s matric dance committee and is an important fundraiser for the matric ball. Every year, the organisers try their best to make the show and experience different for the contestants and audience and this year was no different. Judging by the smiles on the faces of everyone in attendance and the jeers towards those on stage, it’s safe to say that this year’s Mr and Ms Rand Park was a huge success.

With the show’s entertainment being sourced from all the talent the school has, there was never a dull moment during the evening. Dance routines and song performances by other learners of the school were enjoyed by all. The Meirings surprised many as 2018 and 2019 winners are actually sisters, Cara and Bella. It was a scene right out of a movie when Cara handed over the crown and sash to her younger sister.

Apart from the main prize up for grabs, the title of Mr and Ms Rand Park, there were other categories to be won.

Below are the categories and winners:

  • Mr Rand Park: Rick Weimar
  • Miss Rand Park: Bella Meiring
