Weed dealers arrested

NORTH RIDING – Two suspected weed dealers were arrested at a shopping centre on Malibongwe Drive.

Two suspects were arrested at a shopping centre on Malibongwe Drive for allegedly selling marijuana and other drug paraphernalia on 5 July.

According to Honeydew Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan, the dealers were operating out of a general store and had a variety of marijuana flavours and strains on offer.

“These suspects had over 20 different types of cannabis with different kinds of flavour including coffee, ice cream, and chocolate. It is shocking to see the level of complacency that these suspects had. All products were packaged and stored at a high standard.

“One suspect that was arrested was a 20 year-old male from KwaZulu-Natal and the other was a female aged 34. We received word about their operation and our members acted swiftly to arrest them.”

Muthan said that the suspects were arrested for physically dealing in cannabis with a street value of R6 000 out of a shop.

All suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 8 July.
