Birthday Brick lays a solid foundation

NORTH RIDING – The Randburg SPCA has received its first donation towards the Buy a Birthday Brick charity drive in celebration of Randburg turning 60.

The Randburg SPCA and the Randburg Sun has collaborated for a great cause to celebrate the suburb with #Randburg60.

With Randburg’s 60th birthday on 1 July, the SPCA was happy to have celebrated their first donation to the Buy a Birthday Brick campaign. The drive, first introduced in last week’s paper, will run for 60 days after the suburb turns 60 to raise money for the non-profit organisation.

The commemorative bricks are a spin-off from the organisation’s established Buy a Brick campaign, and are priced at R60 each to celebrate every year of the suburb. Once purchased, the name of the person who donated it will be displayed on the brick along with a unique design to mark the occasion.

The first donation of R100 has already been made to the Buy a Birthday Brick drive and has set the tone for more bricks to be layed.

Craig Rudman, general manager of the SPCA said, “The SPCA Randburg is so blessed to receive support through the Birthday Brick campaign and for Randburg Sun initiating the call to action. Getting the first donation is a positive step toward the up-keep of the animals. We ask more community members to please support the Buy a Birthday Brick campaign and have your name on the wall as a legacy to your support of our society.”
