#GiveWarmth this winter with Winter Hope drive

JOBURG – Winter Hope is encouraging everyone to donate blankets and warm clothes for those in need this winter.

The Winter Hope drive is a partnership with organisations across South Africa such as Town of Hope, the Denis Hurley Centre and the Mould Empower Serve (Mes) encouraging us all to donate winter clothes, blankets and non-perishable foods to people in need during the winter season in cities across the country.

Last year, thousands of blankets and clothes were donated and over a thousand people provided with shelter during the drive.  Mes chairman Reverend Hannes Windell said, “Working together with key role-players in the industry of social upliftment allows us a much greater reach to better serve prospective clients within impoverished and destitute urban communities, while building relationships with fellow partners and the public.”

Participate Empower Navigate (Pen) has been involved with Winter Hope for 19 years. Senior manager for marketing and communications Janthinus Schrage said it’s their passion to ensure winter is warmer to those most vulnerable. “It’s not just about extending services to vulnerable communities, but asking ourselves what blessings we have and how we can contribute towards making winter a bit warmer to those who are stuck in its grip. A blanket and a jacket is just an entry point, but it can unlock a new world to someone who seeks employment, fulfilment, transformation and personal sustainability.”

Windell encouraged more people to get involved in the drive this winter, for more information about the specific needs of the campaign and drop-offs areas, visit www.winterhoop.org or call 011 725  0001.
