Herman Mashaba checks in on a housing project in Zandspruit
ZANDSPRUIT – Herman Mashaba and MMC for Housing Meshack van Wyk paid a visit to Zandspruit to ensure that everything was in order for the start of a new housing project.
Joburg Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba and MMC for Housing Meshack van Wyk and community leaders were in Zandspruit today, 28 March, to assess a housing project in the area.
They were there to launch the start of the project which will see housing units built for residents. The mayor said that the building process is set to start soon.
Zandspruit councillor, Victor Mafinya said that the community of Zandspruit are faced with has a number of different issues, one of the biggest challenges with this project was the issue of land.

The Zandspruit project, which will reportedly be implemented in phases, is expected to yield up to 3 000 units through the construction of further walk-up units.

Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba has asked the community of Zandspruit to give them a chance. “In the next five years, I want all of you to have decent, dignified housing just like everybody else.”

“Today is a historic day, this is a pilot project for us. We will implement in other communities as well,” said Herman Mashaba.
