Honeydew Police Station welcomes new 18 recruits

HONEYDEW – Honeydew Police Station invited the CPF to explain their purpose to the new recruits.

HONEYDEW – Honeydew Police Station welcomed 18 new recruits on 1 March. The recruits were visited by Honeydew CPF public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg and Hanlee Fourie from the CPF’s victim support unit.

Rosenberg explained the CPF’s purpose and how it is entwined with the police station. Rosenberg added that the CPF members are there to assist the police. They work together with the police, security companies and police reservists. “Every police station needs a CPF.

“All of the members from the CPF are volunteers and they are not trained police officers, but we are the eyes and ears. We look out for any suspicious activities and anything that seems out of place. We are looking forward to working with you, we are here to assist. Good luck and stay safe!”

Captain Balan Muthan, spokesperson for the Honeydew Police said, “The CPF members are important people that come from our community. They don’t need to do all the things that they do. Thank you, Jon Rosenberg, for what you and the CPF do for us.”

Fourie said, “When accidents and crime occurs, it’s necessary to give the people the correct victim support. Usually, then they don’t need any counselling afterwards. We are the support mechanism to support the victims.”

Sergeant Nicholas Makhura, trainer of the 18 new recruits said, “There’s a lot that we need and the CPF can assist us if they have the funds.”
