Repairs are currently underway on a giant sinkhole that appeared on the corner of End Street and Olympic Road, Blairgowrie on the morning of 6 August.

INSET: The stormwater pipes that had become dislodged causing the sinkhole on End Street are currently being repaired.

According to Potter, it was determined that stormwater pipes had become dislodged causing the sinkhole.

The stormwater pipe was re-laid, joined to existing stormwater infrastructure, and a junction box built.

The road surface is still awaiting resurfacing.

“Between 6 August to date, the JRA has worked tirelessly to resolve the issue. The JRA is to be commended for the fast response to this matter and we look forward to other sinkholes receiving the same attention.”

Residents are encouraged to log issues related to the City’s road infrastructure with the JRA by emailing hotline@jra.org.za and if the matter is not resolved in time, escalate unresolved issues to their local ward councillor.
