Watch out for bogus estate agents

LINDEN – Scam artists are at it again.

Linden police are warning the community to be cautious of people pretending to be estate agents to gain entry into their homes.

The bogus estate agents target homes that are for sale and pretend to come from a reputable estate agency and that they have an immediate buyer.

According to police, they approach homes during the day when the homeowners are at work and harras the domestic worker, claiming they have permission to enter the house.

Their motive is to enter the house to inspect what they can take or hold the domestic worker hostage.

The police want to warn the community not to buy into this scam and to arm their domestic workers with knowledge of what to do in these scenarios.
