In 2 Touch hosts final touch rugby matches of season at Old Parks

BORDEAUX – Touch rugby players play their hearts out in winter season finals at Old Parks.

The last 15 touch rugby matches of the winter season played out on a chilly evening at Old Parktonian Sports Club on 6 August.

But the players and their supporting friends managed to keep themselves warm with the hot action on the field in Bordeaux.

The rules of touch rugby are similar to contact rugby but when a ball is dropped, is passed forward or a defending player touches the ball-carrier while the ball is in his/her possession, then there is a turnover.

The sport relies on speed, agility and clever plays and movements to score. Only tries are scored and they each yield one point.

Carl Gordon hopes to score for Gang Wolf Pack in the touch rugby finals.

In 2 Touch  had been running league games for 12 weeks prior in the winter season in both one-touch and six-down formats.

One-touch requires one touch for a turnover, six-down means after six touches possession changes.

“Touch rugby is very social, it is one of the few sports men and women can play together and we often see spouses and partners play,” the company’s Joburg general manager, Andrew Thomson, said.

According to In 2 Touch rules, when a woman scores a try it counts as two points instead of one.

He continued that there were seven divisions in the leagues and the difference in skill levels accommodated everyone. So whether you are young or old, fit or unfit there is a league for you that you can enjoy.
