South Gauteng Hockey Champs of Champs tournament plays out in Randburg
PRAEGVILLE – Annual hockey tournament proves a hit again in Randburg.
The best U13 hockey players in the province descended on the Randburg Hockey Astro for a day of action on 29 July.
The annual Southern Gauteng Hockey Champs of Champs tournament was played under a warm sun and clear sky from early morning until late afternoon.
Friends and family attended in earnest and were whole-hearted in their cheering, as food on sale kept everyone fed and happy.
The tournament was the last one of the season for many of the attending clubs, and even more than glory was on offer.
“Most of the youngsters will be going to high school next year and so some high schools are always there to watch the tournament, scout players and sometimes give scholarships,” said Southern Gauteng Hockey Association events executive, Josie Miella.
She added that the tournament was a success every year with top-quality hockey played.
“There are also some U12 players each year playing to get a feel for the next level of hockey.”
