Join Newton House School for Christmas in July

BUSH HILL ESTATE – Newton House School's Christmas in July fun day promises a day of good food and fun for all.

Newton House School will be hosting a Christmas in July fun day to raise money to help youngsters in need.

The school is encouraging all local residents to join them on 28 July for the fun day, filled with tons of food and entertainment for all.

Once a term, the school organises an event aimed at fundraising for a particular cause.

“We decided to organise a Christmas in July event as it is going to be a fun and festive occasion, and we are raising money for our ‘debs and squires’ initiative. All money raised will be put into our own care fund,” said business and accounting teacher and one of the event organisers, Lizzy Marais.

The care fund is there to help support children at the school whose parents may be going through a difficult financial time. As it stands, the school has managed to arrange 27 stalls to sell everything from arts and crafts to hot dogs.

For the children, the school also organised eight fun rides for them to enjoy, including go-karting and fun slides. The debs and squires are from grades 10 to 11 who raise funds throughout the year for various charities, alongside the aim of planning for their school dance.

Marais said, “Our debs and squires have been given a goal to raise R2 500 for charity by the end of the year. After which, they will qualify to attend their ball.”

The event is open to all members of the community and runs from 2pm to 6pm at the school, with no entrance fee charged. Rides for children will be charged individually, and a full day of rides will cost R100.

The school has stalls available to sell goods and food, and if you are interested in setting up a stall at the event, you are welcome to contact them.
