VIDEOS: West Pack gives books and smiles on #MandelaDay

JOBURG – Randburg Sun, West Pack Lifestyle and Butterfly Products donate 10 000 books for Mandela Day.

In celebration of Mandela Day, the Randburg Sun, as part of its Caxton Cares initiative, partnered with West Pack Lifestyle and stationery supplier, Butterfly Products, to visit 10 children’s charities around Johannesburg to donate books.

The 10 000 books, donated by Butterfly Products were all child-friendly books which included stickers, puzzles and general activities.

The beneficiaries were Bona Lesedi, Reach for a Dream Foundation, Oasis Haven, SOS Children’s Village, Hlanganani Orphan Centre, Yenzani Children’s Home, Johannesburg Children’s Home, Botshabelo Baby Home, Midrand Child Welfare and New Jerusalem Children’s Home.

Each of the charities received 1 000 books which will be used for art lessons, homework activities, and other educational purposes.

 

Brigid Da Silva from West Pack Life Style, Christel Steyn from Randburg Sun, Raymond Madibogo from New Jerusalem Children’s Home and Gary Shrives from Butterfly Products speak about the delivery of 1 000 donated activity books in honour of Nelson Mandela Day.

 

Here is what some of the excited beneficiaries had to say:

On receiving the 1 000 activity books, Johannesburg Children’s Home Fiona Duke said, “We are delighted to receive all the donations today and welcome the support of the community. We are honoured to have been chosen as a beneficiary for the 1 000 activity books and remind the public that any support goes to changing the lives of children.

Sanne Mirk founder of Yenzani Children’s Home said “Yenzani is delighted with the activity books donated from West Pack Life Style and Butterfly Products.

The books will be shared with children from homes all around the Midrand area. We are grateful for the corporate participation and volunteers and are always excited for everything Mandela. I wish he was still alive today to provide guidance to today’s world. He had the deepest passion for children and child welfare.”

 

Gary Shrives from Butterfly Products, Neo Phashe from the Randburg Sun, Brigid Da Silva from West Pack Life Style, Christel Steyn from the Randburg Sun and Fiona Duke From Johannesburg Children’s Home stand behind the 1 000 activity books proudly donated to the home by West Pack Life Style and Butterfly Products.

 

Makopano Mutloatse from Botshabelo Baby Home in Midrand thanked West Pack Life Style, Butterfly Products and Randburg Sun for the delivery of the 1 000 activity books to the home.

“Thanks to Mandela Day and the amazing community, Botshabelo Baby Home is able to reach over 3 000 children every year through our three programmes, the baby home, the educational pre-school and the teacher training programme.”

Desiree Vundla director of Midrand Child Welfare Half Way House said, “It gives me great pleasure to thank West Pack Life Style, Butterfly Products and Randburg Sunfor the donation of activity books to those who are closest to the heart of our beloved Madiba, the children.

“Your effort to nurture and usher the future of our nation in with your kind deeds will remain indelible for these young minds. Our rich culture guides us to secure the future, let this be the beginning for the young to learn to love and care for each other. What you have done today would make Tata proud of all of you.”

Raymond Madibogo PR manager from the New Jerusalem Children’s Home said, “We are extremely appreciative of the donation of activity books that will be used by our children in our preschool.

We see education as one of the most important elements for bringing up our children and, therefore, offer our children a high-quality education that they can use amongst children from outside the home as well.”
