Man fined R2 000 for sexual assault

JOBURG – The court also ordered that the man be deported back to his home country.

The Randburg Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 31-year-old man to pay a R2 000 fine or spend 12 months in prison.

Brighton Musiso was found guilty of sexual assault.

The state was successful in proving its case in court that on 26 November 2017, Musiso unlawfully and intentionally inspired the belief in the complainant by sexually violating her.

Musiso climbed on top of the complainant and also choked her while trying to take her shorts off. The incident took place at a home in Linden where he was employed as a gardener.

He was trying to rape his employer and the employer managed to overpower him and called for help. A security company responded immediately and he was apprehended while trying to run away.

Musiso has been in custody since his arrest as he was denied bail because he was in the country illegally.

Magistrate Lebogang Leshaba also ordered that Musiso be deported back to his home country as he violated the country’s immigration act.
