A suspect will soon appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court after he was apprehended and charged with possession of stolen property.
Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said the police received a tip-off on 2 May from a member of the public which led the arrest of a suspect who was spotted carrying a TV screen and a huge bag.
Police made their way to where the suspect is said to live and upon arrival, they found a number of items including a TV, which he failed to produce ownership of.
“An officer then searched the suspect’s bag and found a student card belonging to a female,” said Mathebula, adding there was an emergency number on the student card which the police phoned and spoke to the student’s father.
The man explained to the police that on the evening of 30 April, his house was broken into. He confirmed to the police that most of the items in the suspect’s possession were his, including a Sony Plasma TV.
