Randburg City Improvement District team praised by ward councillor

RANDBURG – Ward 102 councillor David Potter met with the Randburg City Improvement District team to better understand the work that they are doing in the CBD area.

On 15 March, Ward 102 councillor David Potter met with the Randburg City Improvement District (CID) team, which includes their cleaning and security team, to better understand the work they are doing in the improvement district.

The area is kept clean and secure within their available budget and resources.

“Our CID seeks to increase their investment, attract and keep good tenants and avoid urban decay,” said Tina White, part of RMS Property & Facilities Management who manage the area. “The cleaners and security are outsourced service providers to the district and they are doing a fantastic job of keeping the district safe and clean.”

Potter added, “This meeting forms part of the ‘State of the Ward Tour’ that I launched on 14 February… It allowed us the opportunity to engage with the cleaning and security teams to thank them for the energy and effort they put into the Randburg CBD.”

Many members of the team have worked for the Randburg CID for a number of years, with some working for almost 10 years.

Potter continued, “When I met with them, the CID team said that they were pleased with the upgrades of the Hill Street pedestrian mall,”

“We also discussed pain points, for instance, their concern with motorists parking in parking not designated for such, on Pretoria Avenue and Oak Avenue.”

Randburg City Improvement District management meets with the team before they engage in their work.

CIDs are areas of the CBD where the majority of property owners determine and agree to fund services to those provided by the City of Joburg in order to maintain and manage the public space environment.

The CID’s supplementary and complementary services are over and above the property owner’s City of Joburg rates and taxes.

Potter added, “I am so thankful to be able to engage with and thank those that work so hard in the Randburg CBD to keep it secure and clean,”
“I would like to encourage business and property owners within the CID boundary to take inspiration from this and contribute to the same.”
