Sports field on its way at Acacia Private School on Bellairs Drive

NORTH RIDING - Acacia Private Schools see more developments arise.

Clearing of land has already begun to make way for the multi-purpose sports fields at Acacia Private Schools in Blandford Road.

The Cambridge curriculum school opened its doors for the very first time this year and is looking to cater for the children’s sporting activities. According to the headmaster Fiona Wood, there will be a top and bottom field with different sports codes offered on the fields.

“It is amazing to see the development around us take shape and it does not disturb the children too much,” said Wood.

“The children are just as excited about what is happening as the staff is. There will be a top field where soccer, cricket and rugby are offered while the lower field will consist of hard-surface sports such as tennis, basketball, netball and a hockey field.

“The school currently has a swimming pool where schoolchildren can learn how to swim and strengthen their swimming.”

The headmaster of Acacia Private Schools, Fiona Wood, and the school’s founder, Julikias Gandure, at the construction site of the school’s new sports fields.

Acacia hopes construction of the sports fields can be completed by the beginning of the second term. Its founder, Julikias Gandure, said the sports field will offer children good quality facilities and allow them to grow into fine athletes.

“At our school, we do not just develop the mind but also the person so that they can be a well-rounded individual. We want to cultivate excellence in sports so that a child who is interested in pursuing a career in sport can be developed at our school.”

The school’s teachers are available after school to assist children in their classes with school work if they encounter difficulty. Wood said that with the teachers’experience in education, children are well taken care of academically.

Wood concluded,”We have just finished our first cycle of tests and will be heading into our second round. It is good for us teachers to be able to see where the children are academically and where we can improve.”
