Illegal dumping a concern in Strijdom Park

STRIJDOM PARK – Ward 104 councillor, Mike Wood is addressing the problem of illegally dumping.

Ward 104 councillor, Mike Wood is addressing the problem of illegally dumping in Strijdom Park and surrounding areas.

On 17 February, Pikitup successfully cleared illegally dumped rubbish from CR Swart Drive and Malibongwe Drive to the N1 highway and has also been actively cleaning areas in the Randburg CBD.

Wood said, “Sadly, the problem of illegal dumping is an ongoing issue, especially in industrial areas where it is easy for people to come at late hours, when no one else is around to illegally dump their goods.”

Wood said the issue of illegal dumping is a tough one, as the next day after arranging for one pile to be cleared, more rubbish has been dumped illegally overnight.

“We are happy to see Pikitup doing a fantastic job, now we just need to make sure our areas stay clean.”

Wood is dealing with the Strijdom Park Ratepayers’ Association and business owners in the area and is encouraging them to do their best to curb the issue and to ensure the area stays clean.
