Vehicle theft suspects arrested following a shootout with police in Olivedale

OLIVEDALE – Three suspects arrested after Douglasdale police officers spot a stolen car.

At about 6.30pm on 24 February, a shootout ensued between Douglasdale police officers and three suspects on corner Pritchard Street and Christo Avenue in Olivedale.

This happened after police spotted a silver Ford Ranger that had been reported stolen from Sandton police station earlier this year.

Constable Takalani Mathumba of Linden police station explained that the officers tried to stop the vehicle but the suspects responded by shooting at them.

“The police then fired back and shot at the car’s front tyre,” she said.

There were no injuries or fatalities at the scene and the three suspects were arrested.
