A dozen for St Stithians matriculant

LYME PARK – St Stithians Girls' College pleased with IEB results

Working consistently throughout the year helped Toni Panzera of St Stithians Girls’ College achieve 12 distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric exams.

Toni excelled in accounting, Afrikaans first additional language, business studies, economics, English home language, geography, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, advanced programme English and advanced programme mathematics.

“I will be studying applied mathematics in America because I love maths and I’m not yet sure which field to specialise in,” she said. “Applied maths will give me the foundation to branch into other science-related fields.”

Meanwhile, St Stithians Girls’ College achieved a 100 per cent pass rate with 98 per cent of the matriculants qualifying for bachelor degree studies.

The college also boasted 278 distinctions with 76 per cent of the matrics achieving at least one.

“The IEB matric assessments are a significant external benchmark, both nationally and internationally recognised,” said the college’s spokesperson Lethabo-Thabo Royds.

“We are proud of our cohort of top academic achievers, who shine among the best in the country and whose results are documented individually at this time.

We salute, too, each one of our students who has excelled against personal benchmarks – a less public achievement, but one that is highly valued and appreciated.”

Toni took the top spot with Gabriella Fedetto achieving 11 distinctions and Kathleen Freeman, Alexandra Keogh and E’Jane Li all earning nine.
