Four men in police custody after Monkor break-in

RANDPARK RIDGE – Four suspects are in police custody after armed response services responded to a house break-in on Monkor Road on Thursday.

Four suspects are in police custody after armed response services responded to a housebreaking on Monkor Road on 30 November.

Four men in a silver Mercedes are alleged to have broken into the house in the late afternoon after tampering with its gate and steal electronic goods.

A silver Mercedes which was allegedly used in the commission of a crime stands on the side of Monkor Road waiting for police to take evidence.

Greg Pearce of Community Support Services said, “After the Gate Buddy alarm went off, our Community Support Services team responded in minutes.

“When we arrived on the scene, we noticed a silver Mercedes parked outside with a man inside. He then shouted to the three men inside the property, and they quickly dispersed and ran in different directions.

“We called for backup, and shot rounds at the Merc, which then came to a stop after its back wheel and windshield were shot out.”

A bullet hole in the Mercedes’ windshield.

Linden police said that no one was injured, and all four men are in police custody.

Police and BCI Security K9 units combed the area for any weapons that the suspects may have discarded. However, they recovered what is believed to be stolen property from the burglary, as well as cellphones, which will be used as evidence.

According to Pearce, the men allegedly tried to break into other homes in the area a few minutes before.

Linden Police Station’s Captain Walter Spencer said, “I cannot express how powerful the Gate Buddy alarm sensor is… As you can see today and many times before, it allowed armed response services to respond in seconds, allowing us to make an arrest.”
