Ward 134 braves the rain for citywide clean-up

NORTH RIDING – Ward 134 community members gathered for a good cause.

Ward 134 community members braved a cold and wet Saturday morning on 25 November to take part in the Executive Mayor of Johannesburg’s citywide A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign.

Ward 134 councillor Wendy Alexander said, “The commitment that the North Riding community has shown today has been truly inspiring.

“Even though we were absolutely soaked, we cleaned up for more than two hours to show our commitment to the campaign and the environment at large.”

Community members collected more than 50 Pikitup bags filled with litter.

Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba’s campaign is taking place monthly and is a ward-based cleaning initiative which is held on the last Saturday of every month.

If residents cannot make it to their ward’s next public clean-up, Mashaba encouraged community members to clean up their own areas, even their back gardens.
