Police launch manhunt for killers of Nikki Bush’s husband

DOUGLASDALE – 'Police are investigating a case of house robbery and murder,' – Police.

Police have launched a manhunt for two house robbers after they shot and killed a Douglasdale resident.

The deceased, Simon Bush, is husband to well-known parenting expert and author, Nikki Bush.

According to South African Police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, the robbery and shooting took place during the early hours of 18 November. He estimated it to have happened at around 3am.

It is believed that he went to investigate their dogs barking when he was confronted with the two house robbers, one of whom shot him in the chest at close range.

The house robbers then proceeded to rob the house of laptops, cellphones and watches. Masondo explained that Simon’s wife, as well as their son, were in the house at the time of the incident.

The family has since made statements about the incident and said that they are devastated by the loss. They said Simon received CPR for close to an hour but unfortunately, he never regained consciousness.

Nikki also publicly stated that her son, who is currently busy with matric, was held at gunpoint. She said she managed to call the police while locked in the bathroom.

“Police are investigating a case of house robbery and murder and have launched a manhunt for the suspects,” he said.

Masondo also urges anyone who has more information that could assist in the investigation to call their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
