Five injured after vehicle collision

NORTH RIDING – Five men are left injured after a taxi and a bakkie collide on a busy intersection.

Five people were left injured this morning, 30 October, when a taxi and bakkie collided at the intersection of Olievenhout and Northumberland avenues.
ER24 paramedics, along with another emergency service, arrived on the scene to find both the taxi and bakkie on the road.

“Several people were found walking around on the scene,” said spokesperson for ER24 Russel Meiring.

He said paramedics assessed the patients and found that five men, who had been travelling on the back of the bakkie, had been injured.

“Assessments showed that all five men had sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

Meiring said paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities are investigating on the scene to determine the cause.
