Marketing officer for the school, Robyn Aingworth said teachers planned lessons and outdoor fun activities for the children.

“Painting, building, water play and obstacle courses were all part of the learning activities for the day,” Aingworth said.

She explained that outdoor learning improves children’s health, immerses them in learning and connects them with nature.

“Play not only teaches critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity but it is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.

“The children had a wonderful time outside doing some of the things they love.”

According to Outdoor Classroom Day, lessons learnt outdoors, whether maths, science or language, often stay with us for life. According to the website, the outdoors helps children focus, boosts creativity and imagination, and can simply be more fun.
