It was restaurant manager Gavin Greeff who reacted first when he saw two men standing at the entrance and one of the men had his hand in his pocket.

“I pressed the panic button but three more men ran into the restaurant towards our office upstairs. There they found one of my colleagues cashing up. They took R2 500 [and] then made their escape. I do not keep much money on the premises, so they could only get away with that much,” he said.

The security company was on the scene immediately but the suspects had already fled.

The customers in the restaurant were none the wiser about what had occurred until Cosmo City police officers arrived to investigate.

“Our staff was incredible throughout the whole ordeal and did not panic at all. They were professional and continued working smoothly.

The suspects were brazen and it could have been worse. We just want to assure the community that they are safe at any time in our restaurant and there is no need to fear.”
