Rabie Street collision leaves 11 injured

FONTAINEBLEAU – Netcare responded to the scene of the accident and treated the injured.

A car collision on the intersection of Malibongwe Drive and Rabie Street has left 11 people injured.

At about 6.55am on 22 August, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision which involved a car and a minibus taxi. Media liaison for Netcare 911, Nick Dollman said paramedics from various services such as Johannesburg Emergency Medical Services and police responded swiftly to the scene.

“Reports from the scene allege that a minibus taxi and a car were involved in the collision after which the minibus lost control, hit a pavement and overturned,” explained Dollman.

He said the incident and preceding events would form part of a police investigation.

“Fortunately all 11 [injured] were in a stable condition. They had sustained injuries ranging from relatively minor to moderate.”

Dollman concluded that at the time, traffic in the area was adversely impacted not only by the crashed vehicles blocking lanes but also by a large tow truck required to recover the overturned minibus taxi.
The injured passangers were transported by ambulances to different hospitals for further assessment and care.
