Caxton Newspapers in Weltevreden Park is looking for a multimedia online journalist with a reliable car and driver’s license who lives in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.

Job requirements:

The journalist will be required to write high quality from local communities. They will report to their news editor to coordinate assignments and are required to reach daily targets and report effectively on breaking news and functions for both online and printed platforms. They will also be required to interact with communities of the northern suburbs of Johannesburg on social media platforms.

Additional requirements:

• Strong writing skills
• Social media savvy
• Online oriented

Personal skills/attributes:

• Must live in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg
• Must be able to work alone, without supervision and meet deadlines
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends

Educational requirements:

• Diploma/degree in journalism
• One year’s experience in a newsroom
• Exceptionally high standard of written and spoken English
• Must have own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
