No ‘dumping’ on Jacaranda Avenue

OLIVEDALE – Residents are advised that trucks dumping sand and building material on Jacaranda Avenue is part of a golf course project.

Trucks have been spotted unloading rubble and sand in Jacaranda Avenue. The community is however reminded that this relates to the ongoing upgrades of this road, as well as the Balwin Properties  estate which will include a golf course.

Over the last two weeks, a few concerned residents have called Randburg Sun to report what they assumed to be illegal dumping on Jacaranda Avenue in Olivedale.

The avenue has had massive upgrades that will see Jacaranda Avenue widened in both directions with double lanes, a slip lane on the left from Amsterdam Drive as well as an opening into Windsor Way. Read the whole article here: Jacaranda Avenue gets a facelift.

The 1060 unit estate will also enjoy a 9-hole golf machi driving range, run-walk track, and a mountain bike track.

Richard Andriessen, director of The Golf Place, explained, “We are pleased to see that the community is concerned about illegal dumping but we would like to reassure them that the sand and building material is for the construction of the course.”

Construction of the facilities should take around 12 months to complete. Andriessen added that they will also be joining the clean-up operation of the Klein Jukskei River. “This will and has already aided in clearing the area of vagrants who reside in the park while they sort through their recyclables,” added Andriessen.
