11 injured in two accidents on Beyers Naudé

RANDPARK - This morning Beyers Naude Drive saw two separate accidents that resulted in a total of 11 injuries.

Eleven people were injured in two separate accidents on Beyers Naudé Drive this morning.

One woman was critically injured after she was struck by a car on the corner of Beyers Naudé and John Vorster Road at around 6am this morning. Netcare911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said reports from the scene indicate that the woman was crossing the road at the time of the accident. She said the 42-year-old woman was stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

“It was a high impact accident. She was struck by an SUV and her pelvis was fractured, she had head injuries and paramedics assisted her breathing,” she said.

Mathe said the woman is still in a critical condition.

A further 10 people were injured after a minibus taxi and a SUV collided on Beyers Naudé Drive in Montgomery Park at around 8am this morning.

“Upon arrival, paramedics found a taxi lying on its side while the SUV had already moved safely to the side of the road,” ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said.

All 10 people sustained either minor or moderate injuries and were taken to hospital for further care.

“Fortunately, no-one from the SUV sustained any injuries,” Meiring said.

Local authorities were on the scene of both incidents for further investigation.
