Seal connects with fans at press briefing

FERNDALE – Members of the media and fans got the opportunity to interact with international super star Seal at a press conference.

Music sensation Seal gave his fans an intimate experience at a press conference at MultiChoice City. His fans got to hear him answer questions about his musical journey, his experience of South Africa and what inspires him.

M–Net and Big Concerts hosted him on 13 June 2016.

Seal said that he is glad to have started his world tour in Joburg and thanked his fans for the warm reception and enthusiasm. He performed at the Ticketpro Dome on 12 June 2016, where thousands of his excited fans sang along to his songs.

“My definition of what makes a good song is that above all it has to resonate. It could be a great melody, the delivery or great lyrics. One of my favourite songs of all time is “Imagine” by John Lennon. This song resonates with me. I believe a great song does not come to you but through you and it must have a message,” said Seal.

During his performance he joined the crowd during his second song. When asked about what compelled him to join the crowd, he said he believes that there are no bad audiences but only mediocre performances.

“It seems bizarre to me when I hear other artists say the crowd was really terrible. My philosophy is that nobody ever pays to see a bad performance, everyone wants to have a good time. The best concerts happen when they are collaborative and totally engaging. Me jumping of the stage was not planned but when I see a physical gap between me and the audience my heart just sinks. The whole important aspect of performing is to connect and get closer to the audience,” explained Seal.

He also added that “Kiss of the Rose” is his personal favourite song. Seal will perform next at ICC Arena in Durban on 14 June 2016 and at Grand Arena in Cape Town on 16 June 2016.
