Gurulogic launches their first album

NORTH RIDING – Gurulogic to work on their first music video.

Gurulogic hosted a CD launch for their first album at Jackal Creek Estate on 1 May.

The band launched their first album Time Traveller, joined by family, friend and fans.

The nine piece band was formed by pianist Mpho Matlala who goes by the name Guru, back in 2012. The band consists of members Thato Kashe on the bass guitar, Tiro Mashila “Romeo” who plays the alto saxophone, Jabu Masete “JTBone” who plays trombone, Bohlale Rantseli “Dj Bo Beast” on the turntable, and Celebrate Intellect, Terrence McKay, Dimah Phaho who are vocalists.

One of the group members, Bohlale Rantseli “Dj Bo Beast” said that group members have come and gone over the years, but they are quite happy and settled with the group they have now.

Beast explained the sound of the group as feel good music. “We do a little of everything, from jazz to pop and funk,” he said.

Gurulogic released an EP in 2013 with four songs on it and since then they have grown together as a group and individually.

The band used to host events at their homes where they would invite friends to come and listen to their new material. Years down the line at their album launch, they were greeted by about 200 guests to celebrate their new album which was also the first outdoor event at Jackal Creek Estate.

Gurulogic have done well for themselves in the past years playing at events such as the DSTV Food Festival, Back to the City, live on Khaya FM and at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz in 2014.

“We want to be the band on everybody’s lips,” said Rantseli. The band is in the process of having their own shows at the Joburg Theatre and shooting their first music video.

The album launch was spectacular as they captivated the crowd with their feel food music and they had the legendary Bob Mabena host the launch for them.
