Vehicle fire causes traffic congestion on Republic Road

FERNDALE – Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) confirmed there were no reported injuries when a vehicle caught fire.

A car caught fire and burned on the corner of Republic Road and Bram Fischer Drive in Ferndale causing traffic congestion in the morning of 14 April.

Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said a Corsa Lite caught fire in the middle of the road.

“When we arrived there we found the driver standing on the side of the road,” he said.

He explained that the cause of the fire was unknown and there were no injuries reported.

Joburg EMS had since put out the fire. “There is traffic congestion and motorists are diverted to other lanes,” he concluded.
