Bloubosrand Community Forum invite their residents to a fun run and walk

BLOUBOSRAND – Residents are invited to participate in a fun run and walk to raise funds for their patrol team.

The Bloubosrand Community Forum will host a fun run and walk in their community. The event is exclusively open to Bloubosrand residents and their family members.

Bloubosrand Community Forum member and street captain Lizzy Damon said that the event is to raise funds for the community’s patrol team. “The funds raised will go towards essentials the patrol team needs to operate such as torches, reflector jackets, two-way radios, pepper spray, a taser and other items. We thought a fun run and walk would be a great way to raise funds for them,” said Damon.

As a street captain, Damon said that she attends to residents concerns and complaints about the activities happening in the community. She also attends to municipal- and crime-related matters. Damon describes her motivation for joining the forum, is to play a role in the growth of the community.

“The Forum has over 300 members part of our WhatsApp group and we engage with each other via our Facebook page and email. Every street captain has all member’s full details in case of emergencies. So far one of our recent challenges has been the high electricity bills that residents have complained about,” explained Damon.

She added that one of their sponsors, Night Guard Security will assist with road closures during the walk and provide water stations for participating residents. Fine and Country Estate Agency are also assisting with spreading the word to other residents.

“The event will take place on 9 April, residents can register at 10am for R50 per person, the walk will take place at 11am and residents can register for the three or five kilometre walk. For more information people can contact the Bloubosrand Community Forum,” said Damon.
