Suspects arrested after a high-speed chase

RANDPARK RIDGE – Suspects were arrested after a high-speed chase.

Three suspects were arrested on the afternoon of 17 February after a high-speed chase from Weltevreden Park to N1 highway.

The three suspects were allegedly involved in a robbery that occurred at Randpark Ridge on 16 February.

Community Support Services (CSS) patrol and security group pulled over the suspects’ vehicle just before 14th Avenue after a high-speed chase. Honeydew Police and other units assisted quickly and all three suspects were arrested.

Greg Pearce from CSS explained that the suspects were spotted after they had robbed two laptops from Wonderboom Avenue. A resident spotted them on the corner of Blouhaak Avenue and Anaboom Street.

“He recognised the registration from the incident in Randpark Ridge the day before, not knowing they had just robbed again in Wonderboom Avenue,” he explained.

Three other CSS vehicles joined the chase on Beyers Naudé toward the highway. “The suspects threw the laptops out the window of their vehicle, bouncing on the road in front of us. We forced them off the road on the N1 under the Fairland walk-over bridge,” he concluded.

Suspects were positively identified by victims from both incidents. Police are yet to give more details.
