Randburg CPF Trauma Centre asks for support

KENSINGTON B – Randburg CPF and Trauma Centre asks community and businesses for help.

The Randburg Community Policing Forum (CPF) has asked businesses and community members of Randburg to please support the CPF and the Trauma Centre.

Randburg CPF chairperson Hennie Oosthuizen explained the CPF is the civillian oversight body of the Randburg SAPS and part of their responsibility is to develop and support projects that will improve the rendering of policing services to the community.

Oosthuizen added the Trauma Centre supports victims of crime in the Randburg area free of charge.

He said the Centre has existed for around 20 years, during which volunteers have given their services to victims of crime such as rape, abuse, molestation, child abandonment, murder, armed robberies and assault at their own cost and time.

Ooshuizen said it is difficult to run these services without any funding and asked the community and businesses if they could assist with any of the following:

  • A vehicle that will be exclusively utilised by the Trauma Centre as it is currently dependent on SAPS for a vehicle pending availability – victims are not allowed to be transported with private vehicles
  • A corporate sponsor to assist with the vehicle expenses
  • Fuel for the vehicle
  • An amount of R20 000 per month (or any amount possible) provides enough to cover basic running costs. These costs include food, clothing and monetary support for the victims. This also includes sundries such as pamphlets printed on reporting abuse that are distributed at schools and in shopping centres. Records are kept as well as financial statements by the CPF treasurer and are available to be viewed at any time by the sponsors
