Queen – It’s Kinda Magic at the Joburg Theatre
BRAAMFONTEIN – Straight from Australia, performer Giles Taylor as Freddy Mercury delivers the whole Queen – It's Kinda Magic experience at the Joburg Theatre.
The respected Australian performer and multi-instrumentalist Giles Taylor gave fans a thrill of a lifetime when he spearheaded the role of the late Freddie Mercury at Joburg Theatre on 14 January.
The hit, Queen – It’s a Kinda Magic returned to the Theatre after it was last performed in 2009.
This will go on until 7 February.
The theatrical creation of the very best of Queen live in concert, delivered the whole show experience.
Female fans screamed, “Take off your jacket.”
Straight from Australia, Taylor was supported by Richie Baker as Brian May on guitar, Kyle Thompson as Roger Taylor on drums and South Africa’s Steven Dennett as John Deacon on bass.
Freddie Mercury’s best friend Peter Freestone said, “I have not seen another show in the world do it better.”
Taylor took on the coveted and complex role of Freddy Mercury in 2014.
His accomplished career has seen him travel the world over the past 13 years performing with the world-renowned artists.
Taylor counts his role in Queen – It’s a Kinda Magic as one of the toughest musical roles he has encountered to date.
“Freddie Mercury was known for his powerful voice, vocal range, and had a very distinct character in general, so emulating him is quite a challenge, but those details need to be just right for a show of this magnitude,” said Taylor.
He said true Queen fans will appreciate the attention to detail.
The show features over 20 original Queen hits, including We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Fat Bottom Girls, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen, A Kind of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, Don’t Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Play the Game, I Want to Break Free, Who Wants to
Live Forever and many more.
