GALLERY and VIDEO: Team Touch and Team Mabalula go head to head at BET

The BET Experience Africa hosted a celebrity basketball game at the Ticketpro Dome on 12 December.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa teamed up with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa and created the exciting celebrity basketball game.

Two teams of SA celebrities were formed, and managing the teams was Metro FM DJ Tbo Touch and the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula.

Team Touch had celebrities such as Channel O VJ Sammy Sosa, hip-hop DJ Ms Cosmo, rappers JR, Reason, Slickour and Ricky Rick to name a few and Team Mbalula had Channel O’s VJ Scoop, the queen of bling Khanyi Mbau, rapper Shugasmakx and Stilo Magolide among others.

The game became heated when the celebrities showed that they are good at other things besides being famous. It was also apparent that Scoop and Ricky Rick were no strangers to the basketball court. Ricky Rick was so in the zone that he even started arguing with the referee. Some celebrities though seemed like they were holding the ball for the first time. Everyone had fun in the end – from the players to the viewers.

The game was commentated by former NBA All-Star and 1992 Slam Dunk Champion Cedric Ceballos and the gorgeous Soccer Zone presenter Minnie Dlamini. There were also performances by an NBA Dunk Team from Philadelphia.

The game was a 15–15 draw which lead to overtime and rounded up with Team Touch winning 19–15 points.
