VGRA hosts annual party

BRYANSTON – Residents donated blankets to Randburg Police Trauma Centre.

Vandia Grove Resident’s Association (VGRA)  held their annual party at the corner of Westview Drive and Park Street in Bryanston on 11 November.

VGRA chairperson Di McCarthy, Sergeant Coekie Maphanga of Randburg SAPS Social Crime Prevention Crime Unit (SCPU), Sector 3 manager Constable Gerry Maluleke and police spokesperson Stanley Bopape attended.

Residents further donated seven blankets to the Randburg Trauma Centre.

Const Maluleke advised residents to stay alert and keep safe during this festive season, especially at the shopping centres.

“When you withdraw money from the ATMs, do not allow strangers who offer their assistance to help you,” said Const Maluleke.

He further explained that domestic workers should ensure that children who were coming to visit them during this school holidays, arrive safely.

He advised them to fetch their children from taxi ranks and avoid incidents of kidnapping and rapes.

“Domestic workers should inform their employers of any person at the gate who are there to render service at the house,” said Const Maluleke.

He concluded that at all times residents should avoid any strangers, especially at shopping centres, offering to get those items at half prices from the shops.

“Criminals have different name tags for different shops,” warned Const Maluleke.

VGRA chairperson Di McCarthy said the party was well attended as was useful to most of the domestic workers.
