Two arrested for robbery and theft in Ruiterhof

RUITERHOF – Suspects caught for theft and robbery while driving a hijacked vehicle.

Two male suspects were arrested in Silver Pine Avenue, Ruiterhof, on 4 October for robbery, theft and unlicensed firearms.

Linden Police spokesperson Constable Carol Mulamu explained that the two suspects both aged 24, were found when the police saw a suspicious car on Silver Pine Drive. Police stopped to search the vehicle and one of the suspects fled the scene on foot. It is alleged that one suspect was sitting in the vehicle and two were running out of a premises with suspected stolen goods.

The police searched the vehicle and found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, a Samsung LCD plasma television, a car-jamming device with a charger, screwdrivers, picks and jewellery.

“After a preliminary investigation, police recovered that the television was stolen at Fairlands on the same morning at a housebreaking incident,” said Const Mulamu.

The vehicle the suspects were using was a white Hyundai i20 that was reported hijacked at Alexandra in October. She added that suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
