GALLERY and VIDEO: Sharonlea Primary hosts dance extravaganza

SHARONLEA – Sharonlea Primary School's Rock Challenge group hosts their annual production in the school hall.

Sharonlea Primary School‘s Rock Challenge group held their annual production on 29 October at their school hall.

Rock Challenge founder Musa Shongwe explained the dance group comprises scholars who participate in various cultural events such as music, drama and dancing.

“The Rock Challenge pupils participate in the Eisteddford every year,” said Shongwe

She added that the group hosts a production every two years to show parents what they have learned throughout the time.

This year’s theme was Dance Extravaganza and although the production was only scheduled for one night, due to popular demand the production will be performed again on 30 October.

Shongwe said 205 children and 31 groups participated in the production.

“The show was a huge success and I am very proud of all the children who participated. During practices I was not satisfied with their performances but during the actual production the children were amazing,”said Shongwe.

She thanks Peter Machaka, Catlin Kemp, Tshabalala Thuli and Thembi Moufhe who assisted in organising the event.

Dancer Uthandile Qika said she enjoyed the show very much.

“At first I was a little frightened when I saw the big audience but once we started dancing I loved every second thereof,” said Qika.
