New way to watch TV

CRESTA – ONTAPtv brings affordable entertainment to South Africa.

A new app is set to change the way people watch and pay for their enjoyment. ONTAPtv is a new video on demand (VOD) operator that allows the user to watch what they want when they want.

Head of consumer marketing for ONTAPtv, Kgositsile Poonyane said that they were activating their service throughout South Africa, starting at Cresta Shopping Centre. “This is an exciting time for the television world as we are set on changing not only how and when people watch television but how they want to pay for it as well,” Poonyane said.

He pointed out that they had different subscription packages that allow the user to choose which programmes they want to watch and added that all their subscriptions were very affordable ranging from R39 to R150 for their packages. He said that they had the latest series, movies and local content on their application that is easy to download.

“The viewer can download the content that they want to watch and depending on what it is they can keep it for a certain amount of days,” Poonyane explained. “They can download where they find free wifi and then choose when to watch the programmes they have selected,” he said.

He added that they were adding more content that would be locally produced and this he said would boost the local film and television market. “What makes this an advent is that viewers don’t have to wait to get home to watch their favourite programmes. Whether they are in a taxi, bus or aeroplane – as long as they are within the borders of South Africa – they can watch to their hearts content,” he added.

Poonyane said that ONTAPtv was a convenient way to watch television, family trips he said would never be the same. “Even during load shedding if your smartphone, tablet or laptop is charged you can watch as much TV as you want,” he said.
