Girl Guides SA hold leadership workshop

NORTH RIDING– The Girl Guide National Centre hosted a workshop to develop leadership for girl scouts in South africa.

The Girl Guide National Centre hosted 45 representatives from Guiding Regions around South Africa for a leadership workshop.

The Leadership Development Programme held in North Riding, was presented by the World Association of Girl Scouts.

Miss Earth 2013 Ashanti Mbanga, was a guest speaker at the workshop and she presented an inspiring presentation on “servanthood” leadership.

Mbanga, an ambassador for Miss Earth, said being Miss Earth is not about glamour – it is rather about changing from high heels to gumboots.

“If everyone could do just one hour of community service a day, we would really be able to help change the world,” Mabanga reckoned.

The workshop is sponsored by UPS representatives, who committed themselves to making a difference in the world, by working with communities.

This programme also is part of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts leadership programme, which aims to build leadership skills among girl scouts.

The team consisted of international facilitators Rebbecca Tye of Canada, Sophy Kotti of Greece and National trainers from Girl Guides South Africa.
