Child and adult drown in Bordeaux

BORDEAUX – A man and a 6-year-old child drown in a home swimming pool.

A sad incident occurred when a six-year-old child and a man drowned in a residential swimming pool in Bordeaux on 29 September.

According to ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw, in the afternoon hours the child was allegedly playing outside and fell in the pool. Rossouw said that according to bystanders the man jumped in to try and save the child. He could not swim and became unconscious in the water.

ER24 paramedics responded to the incident, but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for the adult patient who was declared dead on scene. The child was transported privately to Mediclinic Sandton, but was also declared dead on arrival.

Randburg SAPS were on scene to investigate the incident.

Randburg SAPS spokesperson Constable Stanley Bopape said that he was aware of the incident, and would comment shortly.
