GALLERY: Petra Laranjo is living on purpose

NORTH RIDING – Author and actress Petra Laranjo recently launched her new book called 'Living On Purpose' which is the key to changing lives and impacting on others.

The Cabanga Conference Centre was abuzz on 11 September during a book launch.

Author and actress Petra Laranjo launched her new book called Living On Purpose and the #JustOneThing global campaign.

According to Laranjo, Living On Purpose is a call for intentional living so that every thought, belief and action become aligned with one’s purpose.

The book is a collection of stories of 50 local and global influencers – people in business, entrepreneurs, celebrities, philanthropists and even some without titles.

“Living a life of purpose has always been important to me but through my personal journey and observing so many others – friends and clients – I started questioning why so many people aren’t living fulfilled lives and lives which they desire,” said the actress.

Laranjo said she was tired of falling short of her goals and began doing a lot of introspection.

“I realised that setting goals, to-do lists and New Year’s resolutions are great but unless they’re backed up with a clear purpose, they’re destined to fail,” she said.

She gave birth to the book in nine months.

“This is what I imagine childbirth to be like but more extreme,” she said.

And yes, her journey through writing the book was not an easy one. “I made many sacrifices, including time away from family and friends, missing important anniversaries and holidays away. I hardly took a day off, so an average of 12 hours seven days a week has certainly been a tough physical, mental and emotional challenge but so incredibly rewarding,” she confessed.

She added that interviewing the 50 phenomenal people in the book left her inspired, uplifted and challenged her beliefs.

“I would like to inspire people to do what they have to in order to live their best life. Discover and connect with your purpose so that you are able to live the life you’ve always wanted,” she said.

Laranjo calls on residents to join her and other global influencers on the #JustOneThing movement campaign.

“Everyone can do something to uplift the lives of others – human, animal and our planet.”

Laranjo will also raise funds, awareness and support for Pets Johannesburg Township Rescue and the Faces of Hope Foundation through the sale of the books.
